Environment

We participate in reforestation activities and plant over 1 million trees
per year to preserve the unique nature of our country and
offset our carbon footprint by absorbing 23k tons of CO2 per year.
We are fully plastic free, both in our products and in our atelier;
everything is biodegradable and compostable
except the metal hardware, which can be recycled.

Embracing ethical fashion means acknowledging that there are
human beings behind the clothes that we wear.
All our products are 100% handmade, therefore our production capacity
is limited – the more complicated pieces can take up to 3 weeks!
We know this isn’t the easy way, but we care
more about quality and positive impact than turning a quick profit.

Raw Materials

We only use locally sourced, sustainable materials such as raphia,
an endemic tropical palm tree. Collecting raphia is a process similar to pruning,
contributing to the overall health of the plant. The fibers obtained through this process
are exceptionally supple and durable, making the perfect
medium for our creations. We then dye them with organic or AZO-free
pigments to minimize the risk of allergic reactions, toxins, and heavy metal contaminations.

Upcycling/Recycling

To minimize our waste, we recycle any raphia scraps by turning them
into filling for our home décor pieces or we upcycle them
into entirely new, one-of-a-kind products.
Every bag is lined with second-hand fabric sourced on the local market.
Thanks to a brand-new waste management project,
we also give away any unneeded raphia scraps to NGOs,
non-profit organizations, and small local business
to create projects of their own.

Packaging

Our labels are made of a traditional paper called “papier antaimoro”, made with tree bark pulp and dried flowers, while our packaging is made of a natural fiber called raban, also derived from raphia. Everything can be reused, or else is fully biodegradable and compostable in 10 to 13 years once lining and metal hardware are removed. We believe it is our duty to share in the “burden of recycling” by providing our customers zero-waste materials and reducing our collective waste footprint.
